CC 62 Kingsway 17

The girls picked up their 1^st win of the season with a dominating performance. A balanced team effort and improving throughout the game were keys to the win. Transition baskets off of 23 steals, 16 pts off of Kingsway’s 38 TO’s  and 16 assists were difference-makers. Finally, we won all four quarters: 18-4, 15-3, 15-1 and 14-9. It was especially exciting to see the JV team play the entire fourth period and extend the lead.

Jana led all scorers with 20, including three 3’s, Kelly added 15 and Elsa dropped in 6 in the final quarter. Jana had 5 steals and Marissa 4 as the team maintained an aggressive defensive approach throughout the game. Julie led the team on the boards with 5 rebounds.

We opened the game with 5 TO’s on the first 7 possessions! This will have to change quickly. The good news is that we had only two TO’s in the 2^nd and 3^rd quarters finishing the game with 15.

We finished the game 25/59 (42%) from the floor including 3/9 on 3’s.  We were only 9/20 (45%) on free throws, these must improve.

It is always great to get the 1^st W; now we must turn our attention to visiting Waynedale this Saturday afternoon.
